about

Luke Jarret Worcester

I started writing a few years ago - I taught myself whatever I could get my hands on and my technical knowledge is pretty limited; I like to play a lot more by ear. I write, perform, record, and edit all of my own songs. I do my best with each one and I really hope you enjoy them! Thank you kindly for taking the time to listen! ... more

Track Name: The Frost
I only saw his skyward eyes
to us all blind, fixing high,
and craving air that tears your lungs,
pining for hair that's come undone
But conversation stubborn fell
always back to quelling cares
and hell in staring earthbound
where those whipping eyes weren't long

Maps were anchors, planning fodder
on which to feast and nowhere waddle
The surest feet are pure, untreated
ramblers who pursue a need
He set off quickly brazen with me
stiffly walking in his wake
With only air she gave to him
and hands that came to know her face.

I owe more than I can repay him
in a strange euphoric shame
I stole a feat and cut him down
for which I wish the mountain brow

I only saw his rigid back
a wall of black in white beyond
unflinching as I stooped to boots
and aching knew my will had gone
Though a way laid cut before,
my feet, unsure, lost courage
or they could not keep up to a
steep desire taunting age

I felt the rope now tighten lightly
as the white expanded in
my footing lost unto the ice and
frightening in a dizzied spin
I crashed against the rink of earth
my mouth too dry to find the word
It's a funny kind of silence come
as soon no rebellion's heard

I owe more than I can repay him
in a strange euphoric shame
I stole a feat and cut him down
for which I wish the mountain brow (x2)
Track Name: The Bitter End
Oh I'm losing the light of the moon
I feel a new dark age coming soon
Lit by the lights that only we have made
To hypnotize, to stupefy the ones we degrade

We're on a sinking ship,
but we're loyal as hell
To the captain/dictator,
The reason we fell

But the darkness is comfort,
don't know what we touch
Clap our wrists together
For we know that much all too well

We look on up to the smallest figurines
Our favorite past time is horror filled hilarity
And still our gaze is locked, to the funhouse mirror show
crafted by the architects of much we'll never know

Oh I'm losing the light of the moon
I feel a new dark age coming soon
Lit by the lights that only we have made
To hypnotize, to stupefy the ones we degrade (x2)

Some are always flitting across the line
To keep themselves obscured and by us ill defined
But I pray for decency in the few years we have left
Shortly we'll have gone the way of uneasy rest
Track Name: The River
I'm a man without a house
Never found myself a spouse
My only company is the occasional mouse
But I walk day in and day out
Yes I walk to find a river clear
With no way to steer and overwhelming fear
Yes I walk through the city with calamity streets
With the sounds of bells and whistles
And drumming heart beats
Where buildings scrape the sky
And trees become art
But as I walk I know it's a fine place to start
Because where you begin
Is not where you end
It's the initial friend
As you wend through its ways
And say goodbye to the first days
Of this silly maze
You've gotta get yourself out of this place.
And I'm off

I'm in a neighboring state to confusion and illusion
With a little tip for me, to head for open sea
And I walk to the edge of the place of my birth
To see if I can demonstrate accommodating worth
With one foot in the water, I'm nautical fodder
Up around the bend, was Lusitania's end
And the likely possibility of drowning me
But I walk freely to the heart of the wide ocean
And so the wetter, better portion of my tale has begun
I saw creatures of the deep, beasts from one's fantasy
(sea) Monsters with seven eyes that tried to snack on me
And I fought my way through the hall of tentacles and teeth
And felt the ground going out from under my feet
And I'm off

I made it to the shore
Left behind the monster's low muffled roar
And I climbed up a grassy mountainside
And I saw before me
A sight that in my mind forever will be
A river that shamed all else one could ever see
I said to myself I think I'll settle here,
Maybe call this place home for several years
I will stay until the day when my heart turns gray
And is no longer enchanted by this beautiful place
Track Name: Swimming Low
Swimming low through quilted people
Chasing coat tails on the isles
Suddenly gone monochromatic
These aren't the shoes I recognize

I look up to faces replaced by misty topped suits so wide
The shallow well springs up
I couldn't prick myself on a map if I tried

You don't need keys when you're leaving
It's when you're trying to get back

Kind eyes descend from the shadow
From silhouettes I'd known back home
A past time cast aside found a welcome
Lonely hearts don't live alone

You don't need keys when you're leaving
It's when you're trying to get back
Track Name: Over Shoulder Clarity (Youtube Rip)
Over shoulder clarity, when did you come to me?
I fear the lines beneath my skin are coming up hasty
Which marker bears the name of 'era at an end'
The shrillness of the siren years now echoes, harsh and bent

Crinkled eyes plague my sight,
Screwed up against the wailing of terrifying tikes
They're trapped in a world of incendiary friends
Igniting in a flurry of epitomic sins

But fear calls only flies
And folly doesn't falter lightly

I'm going down to the reservoir
Gonna let my lady lay my hand down
Down to the resevoir
Gonna let my lady lay my hand down

Repetition does favor simple minds
And spirited discussion of the tawdriness of time
And yet the role is always filled
By a facet of our former selves that we finally killed

Crinkled eyes plague my sight
Screwed up against the wailing of my terrifying like
Trapped in a world of incendiary friends
Igniting in a flurry of epitomic sins

But fear calls only flies
And folly doesn't falter lightly

I'm going down to the reservoir
Gonna let my lady lay my hand down
Down to the reservoir
Gonna let my lady lay my hand down
Track Name: Flirtation (Youtube Rip)
One cannot breathe for heavy smoke
And raconteurs' electric folk
But the dusty bottles know a light
In a spell of revelation sights

A softened glow and smiling eye
The well known air of fallen tries
Bringing over younger years
Unworthy careers and real fears

But always first on shaky legs
Giants walk and genius treads
And so relieved were wooden pegs
With courage drank until the dregs

A coy exchange of words and ways
And subsequent foreshadowed days
Several years of learning names
Dialogue of coquettish phrase

A thunderous cry and early morn
Because a happiness was born
A red collar and bright white paint
And so it went till sound grew faint

Side by side in acquaintance beds
with a blazoned cross above their heads
Returning to that darkened room
And a walk together very soon

Cuz always first on shaky legs
Giants walk and genius treads
And so relieved were wooden pegs
With courage drank until the dregs

Track Name: Gone Down the Road
Ash frolicked at my feet
Feigning cold though it came from heat
The bite danced across my cheek
Now parading tracks to me

'Gone down the road,
I'll be back before you know
I've only gone down the road a ways'

Letters prance in a hollow cave
Daisied leaves swirling down one way
Sun glances off cool metal, manmade
A note singing out tall tales

'Gone down the road,
I'll be back before you know
I've only gone down the road a ways'
Track Name: Deadbolt Connoisseur (Demo)
Each night that I disappear, my vision finds familiar trees
That's how I came to be a yawning blinds enemy
It's been six months now, maybe more
That I've given myself the name of Deadbolt Connoisseur

Compunction set in in the newborn days
But I wasn't about to slay my grizzled ways
A slave to the depraved, my crosses were no such form
I could no longer remember her particular warmth

And as the faces swam, so grew the hate
Yet my cowardice perpetually hissed to wait
These proclivities had all gotten far too far down the line
But sentimentality always drowned in wine

It's been ten months now, maybe more
That I've given myself the name of Deadbolt Connoisseur

This groaning foreboding is owning my soul
And I know it, the moment of measures is close
There's a weight on my mind of an unearthly kind
And The Advent is closer and closer and closer and closer in time
Track Name: Nebulous Time (Demo)
Unrest had cut the wire, after growing tired
of bin fodder unadmired
and set the hands for a distant line,
nebulous time always takes the mind

White weight met crispy collage,
then felt a sizzling watch and struggling thoughts
Surely diamonds soon, under a different moon
needless itch walking the room

Sirens wailing from the door
Wind and letters are at war
Ocean panicked on the rocks
A frenzied Vulcan on the docks

Jubilation upon incineration
a mind's chattel undone
lyin' proximity, graceful asymmetry
that mirrors would never see

The heart roars ever loud
for what the life's about
fleeting moments never sour

Sirens wailing from the door
Wind and letters are at war
Ocean panicked on the rocks
A frenzied Vulcan on the docks
Track Name: A Life of Watches (Demo)
The earth is snoring
Victoria's on the floor
Dessert was boring
But you're still reaching for more

Did you really want to stay?

And it bleeds from me
I need your misty eyes
I need you to take the lead
I've never loved goodbyes

I never loved goodbyes

A life of watches
Pretending not to know
(No time for stopping
Or else blades will grow) (X2)

Keep scrapin' my knees
Stings because I know too well
But what do I believe
Is it a question, heaven and hell?

Did I really want to stay?

A life of watches
Pretending not to know
(No time for stopping
Or else blades will grow) (X2)

I'd like to throw roots
But I know quickness controls
And it's a hollow blues
But it's all on which I have to go

A life of watches
Pretending not to know
(No time for stopping
Or else blades will grow) (X2)
