lyrics

I only saw his skyward eyes
to us all blind, fixing high,
and craving air that tears your lungs,
pining for hair that's come undone
But conversation stubborn fell
always back to quelling cares
and hell in staring earthbound
where those whipping eyes weren't long

Maps were anchors, planning fodder
on which to feast and nowhere waddle
The surest feet are pure, untreated
ramblers who pursue a need
He set off quickly brazen with me
stiffly walking in his wake
With only air she gave to him
and hands that came to know her face.

I owe more than I can repay him
in a strange euphoric shame
I stole a feat and cut him down
for which I wish the mountain brow

I only saw his rigid back
a wall of black in white beyond
unflinching as I stooped to boots
and aching knew my will had gone
Though a way laid cut before,
my feet, unsure, lost courage
or they could not keep up to a
steep desire taunting age

I felt the rope now tighten lightly
as the white expanded in
my footing lost unto the ice and
frightening in a dizzied spin
I crashed against the rink of earth
my mouth too dry to find the word
It's a funny kind of silence come
as soon no rebellion's heard

I owe more than I can repay him
in a strange euphoric shame
I stole a feat and cut him down
for which I wish the mountain brow (x2)
